it was only when the alarm sounded shrill in my eardrum that i woke up with a start and remembered why in the first place i was to get up early. i brushed my teeth, splashed quite some water on my face, wore my sweater dreading the morning fog, gulped a mug of milk and rushed to knock on the door of my neighbor... even before i could hit the door with my knuckle, she opened the door with a wide smile on her anxious face and already dressed. we took the stairs instead of deciding to wait for the elevator to come up and jumped onto my two wheeler...i let sirisha drive(she's faster than me) and within minutes we were at the theatre!!!
yes! we were going to watch the vidhu vinod chopra movie - "3 IDIOTS", starring aamir khan, madhavan, sharman joshi and kareena kapoor. why did we go to the theatre at 7.30 when the first show of the day starts at 11 am??? for the tickets of course!!! well, we're not the kind of v.i.p's who had friends who gave out tickets without standing in the queue and we din't even know the theatre officials...
but man, i was kind of shocked to see the response the movie received...
the gates were not yet opened, but the crowd was worth marvelling at!!
well - 2 reasons for it!!
first, it was christmas holiday and second, it was the first day of an Aamir khan flick!!!
we rushed in as soon as the gates were open... got the tickets soon enough... were a bit disappointed as we couldnt make it in the top slot but happier that we DID get tickets!!!
it was still 9 a.m. then so we went back home, had breakfast and dressed well in time for the movie.
we sat in our seats and waited for the unrelenting commercials to end...
the movie started.............. the theatre was silent except for the soundboxes...
बहती हवा सा था वोह
उडती पतंग साथा वोह
कहाँ गया ...
उसे ढूँढो
the subtitles wid the background score played on
the visuals were scenic... from shimla and ladakh.
the dialogues were light hearted and hilarious...the whole theatre was laughing and clapping...
then came the much awaited "aal izz well" song and everyone was tapping their feet and enjoying...but shock hit us as soon as the song came to an end... well that was the first time i cried out in the movie...
it has all the elements needed for a hyderabadi zafrani dum biryani type of movie.... humor, romance, sentiment, shock, twists, bloody mess(though unlike in action flicks) and finally... a message....
after the movie ended, i was washed over with a strange feeling which i can't put into words..
i didn't want to go back home..instead i wanted to sit back in the theatre and wait for the next show to start... i would have watched the movie again and again until satisfied but remembering home and mom, i dragged back unwillingly to the parking lot.
as soon as i came back home, i wanted to fill up my blog with the movie experience, but 2 things made me put off the work till today morning....
1. i wanted to bask in the after effects of the movie a little longer
2. i was going away for the rest of the day .....
haha lolz...
but what i wanted to say is that do watch this flick... it's worth a visit to the theatres...it's not for the director, producers, actors, music dirctor... etc etc but the entire movie unit itself... it's a package deal...
boyy, u'll regret missing it!!!
so long till next blog dears
