Angry Birds Amigurumi

My first ever stuffed toy.
Well it's more of a crochet project and I chose the cute Red CARDINAL Angry Bird.

I am soon to make all the other birds of the set.
I wanted some decors for my Dad's Hyundai i20 car, so I went for this one first.

Well, I gave it as a gift to my mom on her birthday though and see the irony, my younger brother nicked it away!!

Yarn used: Worsted weight yarn in natural Alpaca.
Crochet Needle: Size 2.75 mm
Darning needle
Eyelet beads for eyes.

Techniques I have used:
Simple single crochet in spirals for the body. I spiraled for first half and then started decreases till 3/4th of the body then started stuffing it with pillow cotton. Kept decreasing until I had a sphere with a single stitch to knot it off in the end.
The head feathers also were in spirals and stuffed up.

For the eyebrows, I made a chain of 9 and single crocheted first four and the Half Double crocheted next 2 and Double crocheted last 2. Had to make 3 rows of this for the outer protruding effect.
The whites of eyes were a single crochet in a round.
I stitched up 2 black eyelets for the pupils.

The beak, I could have used a more prominent shade of yellow or orange, but I had to make do with what I had on hand. So I went for this shade of light yellow and made a cone out of it. Stuffed it before stitching of course!
The belly is a simple spiral round until I had 30 stitches on the round.

The tail is not quite visible in this picture here, but if you observe close enough, you can spot it.
4 rows of single crochet and folded in half vertically and slip stitched together. I made a total of 3 pieces and attached at the behind.

And, that's that.
If you are not familiar with crochet basics, you can find written and video tutorials here:

It is a pretty cool site, I think, and has taught me enough basics to carry on my own now.
And please do let me know what you think of my Angry Cardinal Amigurumi.

My first baby project

Good news guys!! I am pregnant! Yes, and already in the third trimester of my pregnancy.
There has been a lot that has happened in these two years that I haven't even had the time to blog.
Well am back now!
And what's more, am back with a bang and some nice things to blog about!

Yes, I met this guy, Veerendra, who is from Rajam( a remote village in Andhra), he's an electrical Engineer by profession.
We got married in 2012, I traded places and work from Bangalore to Chennai and juggled between work and our newly wed life for a couple of months before we planned to start a family.

I have recently picked up a classic art form owing to my very free schedule and thanks to my round shiny belly on board.
The classic form as I am calling it is nothing but Knitting and Crocheting.
My mom used to knit very chic n warm sweaters n cardigans when we were kids. Now I had got the chance to learn from her n thanks to her basics, have really got a good hang of it.

Well, baby darling is due by this year end and what more welcoming would be to gift him or her with a self made combo of winter wear?? So I started off and ended up with this cute little cardigan here.

What's more, I did not stop at that! I went and made a cozy little beanie hat and also a matching pair of cute little booties for those tiny tootsies.

How cute are these????

Cars with colors, captured

A dewy morning when I just entered my workplace.
The picturesque view that greeted my sight was enough to lift my spirits for the rest of the day.
3 pretty automobiles (I don't speak car n driver, so don't ask me for details) , well they looked like cute little colorful bunnies to me, were parked in the lot.
It had been so long since I saw three primary colors - all 3 together, that we all had learnt first in play school in our baby days.
Red-Blue-Green

I Quickly took a snap while the security was looking the other way ( we are not allowed to click in the premises ).

Take a peek....
